The Niagara Plugin 7.1.4 now supports Eclipse 3.6 Helios!

Happy New Year! If your resolution this year was to learn about IPv6 addressing, then boy are you in luck! In this blog I will introduce the IPv6 addressing scheme and cover some basic address short-hand.

In my last entry, I briefly touched upon the definition of a Time Zone, Daylight Saving Time, how to calculate local time, and the various methods of expressing DST Rule activation times. In this blog, I will show you how to take these principles and apply them to the Niagara AX Framework. After reading this, you should have a firm grasp on the Niagara Framework Time Zone API and will be able to invoke both pre-defined and custom Time Zones of all shapes and sizes.

A few weeks back I was reading a Time Zone document prepared by one of our technical writers and I noticed that he had included a comment which stated, in short, that the document had been reviewed by Tridium's resident Time Zone Expert. While we all wear many hats at Tridium when it comes to development, I never would have imagined that my wardrobe would include the "Time Zone Expert" hat. I found it amusing to be sure, but since then, I thought it would be a good idea to prepare some sort of document in which I could share some of the information, in brief, I have learned in the recent months concerning Time Zones with the Niagara Community. I'm sure by this time we are all familiar with the basic concept of a Time Zone (if not, I truly do envy you!); but, I'll start this blog by explaining the idea.
