International support for the Niagara Weather Service

One question I hear a lot about the Niagara Weather Service is "when will it support international weather?" The Weather Service is a great tool, and I'm glad the demand for international support is increasing. We've recently given the service a tune-up to provide additional features and to fix a few documented reliability problems. In this blog entry I'll be discussing the current state of the weather service, the limitations we face, and how you can integrate international weather into your Niagara applications.

One of the challenges with a community website with as much information as we have on Niagara Central is making that knowledge easily accessible. With blog entries, forum discussions, knowledge base articles, and release notes, there's a lot of information here to sort through. We understand that having quick access to the information you're looking for is critical to making Niagara Central a useful resource, and we've been working to make access easier than ever. One of our most recent enhancements was expanding the offering of RSS feeds.

Niagara Central Discussion Forums

Several weeks ago we migrated the Tridium R2 and Ax forums onto Niagara Central. Although it occurred with little fanfare, this step was a large milestone as we continue to unify and grow the Niagara Community. Currently there are over 1250 discussion threads in the forums. Each is a valuable resource available to help solve problems, provide insight, and give guidance on best practices.

Niagara Central's new Search Tools

As John Sublett said in one of his blog entries, "the entire purpose of Niagara Central is to...facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas." One of my tasks as a portal developer has been to bring the knowledge and ideas buried within Niagara Central to the surface with a search engine specifically tailored to the Niagara community.
